Our Multilingual Learners Liaison Program

The WSD ML Department employs eight Multilingual Liaisons to serve as cultural brokers between our different ML communities and the school. Our liaisons provide interpreting and translation services for families, tutorial support for students and professional development on their diverse cultures for staff.

As a district, WSD is committed to providing equal access to public education for our ML families. Our liaisons and on-call interpreters support this process by providing interpreting and translation services during initial intake, parent/teacher conferences and all other school meetings. Additionally, our liaisons act as cultural brokers, assisting both families and school staff in navigating the complexities of the US public school system and understanding each other’s cultures.
